West Nile Virus, what a name, as a stay at Home Dad, I envision if I contract this disease I will have a likeness of King Tut and do a dance unto itself called “Egyptian Style” made popular by Steve Martin. I know this will not be the case but still. Even though I was burning a Citronella candle, I tried to sit outside tonight after sunset but was forced indoors within 15 minutes. The winds were non-existent; I sure wish the Mosquitoes were they are huge as was the aerial population.

Castle Rock says they have an active Mosquito Abatement Program but after researching it, I found it was consisted of only dropping Altosid briquettes in known places where standing water is a problem. How proactive is this? As a young adult living a few years in Fort Collins, CO until I graduated to the ski slope lifestyle, I remember what an aggressive program they had, crop dusting Mosquitoes with Malthion I think it was. This had a noticeable effect on the airborne population and it made living outdoors possible. I filled out an online contact form and voiced my concerns and if I get a response, you people will be the first to know, but do not hold your breath!

I would suggest to the government of Castle Rock to do a little research on what being proactive is and maybe talk to Fort Collins to see what they do and do it here to protect us and our little ones who prefer the out of doors to ne end!
