Sleepovers

June 9th, 2008 · 3 Comments

Back on topic after my weekend thrash of my rebuild.

Mom and I are currently wrestling with this subject.  He wants a sleepover so bad.  Everybody he has wanted to have over for a slumber party has been four years old or younger or a girl.

Whats an appropriate age to start this?  Is it OK to have boys and girls do a sleepover together at this age?

Every weekend it is a Battle Royalle on this subject.  It is a subject that must be talked about a lot in his 5 YO age group.

This subject will not go away anytime soon.

I left you a comment on the Anthill, but I thought I’d come through, too.  Sleepovers?  Rad.  Don’t be afraid, Mile Hi Dad.  Come to the Dark Side.  5 is totally old enough!  (disclaimer to that on the Anthill :)

I was only allowed to sleep over at relatives’ houses my entire childhood. My brothers and I still tease my parents about being so strict.I guess they must have thought that it was easier to say no to all sleepovers rather than say yes to some and no to some others (I’m thinking particularly of kids with creepy parents.)My sons are 2 and 7 months. No need to worry about this stuff just yet.

    MileHighDad,
I came across your blog because of a reference to you in Woman’s World.  I am too young for this magazine, might I add, however I do love the crosswords in the back.
I added you to my blogroll and will check back.  I am a SAHM in Castle Rock as well - so I am sure you will offer many tips of the trade that I will find useful.
As far as the post, I think 5 is a great age for sleepovers and boys and girls are allowed - for now.  I have a 3 going on 12 year old and a lot of her friends are boys that are 4-5 and sleep overs are great for the kids - but even better for the parents!  This allows date nights for the off parents and lots of laughs and photo ops for the on parents.
    Keep on writing!
    Angie
